I will be picking up a 36" speciman in a week. I've transported 20~24" Arowanas without problem but this one will be a challenge. I usually used poly bags to catch aros but am not sure if the same method will work on this one, let alone needing a bigger poly bag.

Please post replies ONLY IF YOU HAVE WORKING EXPERIENCE in moving an aro of this size.

O.k. But not sure if ya are gonna get many posts.

stick to bagging method. haha. just get a bigger bag.

no experience at all... but ive seen it done

Use larger clear bags, take your time and direct the fish into the bag. Place the bag with aro inside into a cooler or stirofoam box. Add transmore in the water with the fish as directed to calm the aro for transport.

Good Luck

This sounds like it would work, I would probably double bag though. styrofoam is used it insulate while they ship fish. Maybe put pure oxygen in the bag for the ride. Anyhow, no experience just using common sense. Also, maybe try a large pastic toote but I think the bag meathod would be safer for the fish because of no hard surfaces hence plastic. Or just combine the two insulating the toote with styrofoam and place the bag into it. Well, hope it goes well...tell us about the progress....good luck!:D

I do that thing with pillow casings ( i don't know how you call it , the tissue things you put pillows inside, ok? )has worked for me....

its an arowana, no matter how big i gets, its gonna be the same but on a larger scale. and if anyone had experience on moving a 36" silver on mfk, i think he woulda been posting about it.

get a large pillow case or bag, direct the aro into it, and move it, use large large rubbermaid containers with lids if ur moving it from 1 house to another, moving fish is not rocket science.

I heven't moved a 36" aro, but I have moved a 30"+ koi. We used those sock nets with the open bottom that you hold closed with your other hand. Once the fish were captured, they were moved to 48 gal. rubbermaid storage container (I forgot the exact name of the container, but it cost like $100 but you could fill it to the top without it bowing out) filled with about 7-8" of water. Once the net was placed in the rubbermaid, it was pulled past the fish(The fish comes in the top opening of the net and goes out of the bottom opening, no direction change to mess up fins or scales).

Well, good luck with your fish transfer.
