Hello,

I currently own a 48"x12"x15" tropoical freshwater aquarium containing the following fish:

  • 1 Synodontis nigrita
  • 2x1" spoted Red Hooks
  • 2x4." & 1x3" Red Hooks
  • 6x2" congo tetras.
The congos are almost 4 years old and I understand that their life expectency is between 4-6 years. When they eventually die I am undecided whether to either the group of red hooks or replace them with another shoaling fish. Please can you offer some suggestions as to what I could do?

The tank is decorated with wood and a lot of plastic plant.

I will try and upload a photo of the aquarium if that would help.

Personally, i would get more congos :)

However, i think congos can live longer than that if given proper conditions. Your size of 2 inches seems a little small for four year old congos - i have some that are only about 6 months old and are already about 3 inches long - how frequently do you change the water?
