I have a 75 gallon tank with a 7-8 inch fire eel and a 4 inch polypterus ansorgii. Before you flame me for the tank I know how big fire eels get and I should be picking up a 180 gallon tank to setup. Oh and one sail fin pleco (8 inches)

Now onto my question. I would like a little more movement in my tank. I love the fish I have, but they generally only move at night and would love to see something swimming around mid level during the day. I just put the poly in so I want to wait 2-4 weeks anyway to get more fish as not to stress him. My water is pretty neutral at:

pH:7.0-7.1
GH: 2
KH: 8-9
Nitrate: 5-10 ppm (never more)
Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: 0
I do a 10% water change either everyday or every other day depending on my schedule.

So since I will be moving my others to another tank I guess just assume my 75 is empty and what could also go in my future 180 .

On another note what would be eating my ghost shrimp? I put 16 in yesterday for my eel since my LFS ran out of live blackworms till monday and he won't eat anything else from my hand. My eel or poly doesn't look any plumper then yesterday and I can only find 2 of the shrimp so far! I don't imagine my sail fin eating them since he mostly just eats veggies I put in the tank every other day. Could my eel be eating them and not showing too much plumpness? I know it wasn't the poly because he is small enough that if he ate even one I would be able to tell.:screwy:

yes the eel could be eating them and just not show. what i did when i got my first fire eel i use a turkey baster and put blood worm in it and then put the blood worm right by where he hide and let him he them from the turkey baster.

I'm not too sure about what can and cannot be put with a fire eel, but I'd suggest looking into a few Clown loaches. They are mid-bottom feeders, very active in schools, and have great personalities dancing in front of the glass.

I was thinking the same thing. I've seen videos and I love their movement. My LFS sells 2-3 inch ones for $5 a piece.

I love my RedHook Silver Dollars. I have a school of 7 and they are pretty active in middle-upper portion of tank.

Never really looked into them, but I sure will. I think my LFS has some fully mature ones in a display tank with a SA.

Yeah? How well do they get along? I have seen pictures of them in a tank before, but never actually knew anyone who kept em together. And I had a thought driving tonight that I might go all out and grow some discus. :naughty: But, now that I will have two tanks in the next few months I have many options.
