Long island
I just bought a ten gallon tank today for a little breeding project. I was wondering if you guys can throw me some ideas on what would be a good fish to start off with breeding. I was thinking convicts would be cool but i feel like a ten gallon might be a bit too small for them. I was then thinking about apisto cichlids but i didnt know how hard or easy it was. Is there a lot of fish you can breed in a ten gallon or no?

Yes their are a lot of smaller fish. If this is your first breeding project and you want something easy, Live bearers are instant success. Platy, mollies, sword tails, guppies. Just add water. Ten gallons may be a little small for convicts but it can work just keep up water changes and watch for an over aggressive male so he dose not beat up the female to much.

I agree, platys, mollies, swordtails, guppies, danios, tetras...I would not breed convicts in a 10g

Blue German rams.

Living on Long Island, your water is hard and alkaline. Perfect water for dwarf african cichlids from the rift lakes or livebearers.
