Ok I don't post much read alot of the forums. Let's begin I lost my job in September and had to get rid of my biggest tank 125! I'm not new to keeping aquariums been in the hobby for 7-8 years now. Currrently have a 75 gallon and a 29 gallon with your hob filters etc. I was blessed and just got hired at a very good rate and will back on my feet again within a few months now! So after doing some research I will be purchasing my biggest tank I ever owned looking at an Acrylic 240 gallon 8ftx2ftx2ft.being a primarily piranha keeper I want to do SA/CA cichlids so my question to fellow members would be


What kind of filtration?
Heating?
Stocking?

Tank will be center piece for sitting room so I don't just want a pair of Dovi's or Umbies although fascinating fish I would like a variety will some color and personality as I have kids who love the tanks would sit and watch the 125 with Red Bellies instead of tv appreciate everyones input Thankyou!

SA/CA cichlids there are a lot to choose all are territorial fish. Setup the tank with lots of rocks wood. I would get all the fish around the same size let them grow up together. The thing about territorial fish is you need to sometimes stock them heavy to keep one fish from dominating the whole tank. The idea is one fish can't fish fight everyone. But if you get two fish that pair up they could own halve the tank. I prefer canister filters allows me to set the tank closer to the wall. One 300watt heater should do the job depends on how cold it gets in your house.
