I have a 125 gallon tank sitting pretty much empty right now, and I've been thinking about getting a hold of some payara. I'm looking for some tankmates. I really like the look of the various species of Tiger fish, and I'm curious if anyone knows of something compatible. Mainly with some serious teeth! I keep coming across red tail barracudas in my searches, but I've found it near impossible to find pictures of full grown adults. I've read that they have a max size of 11 to 12 inches. If you have any ideas on some comparable fish (toothy) or if you have pictures and info on the red tail barracuda, please share!

Thanks!

Well it looks like no one responds in this forum so I'll help u out as best i can. I'm a noob to this but I have a vatf and getting two hujeta (or rocket gars) and a scomb (payara.) They are all going in my 225 but regardless of all that if they are the same size there is a good chance I will have luck. I have seen countless videos of payara, ATF, gar, arowana, and African pike all living together fine. Growth rate is something that will have to be considered, but seeing your tank size I would say its gonna be around 2 years and you will have to upgrade anyways so that's something to consider as well.

Thank you for the response! It's ridiculous not getting any answers on this site, I think the members first check how many posts you have on the site before even considering sharing some information. It's very annoying because I'm 21 and Iv'e kept fish since I was 6, I've kept "monster" fish since I was 12. But I'm not posting online all day so I guess I don't get info lol.. So thanks again for the response. I'm thinking of getting 3 scombs and 1 or 2 tats (red tail payara) and trying to find Ace Falcatus, Ace Falsirostris red, and yellow tail barracudas. I was finally able to find some adult pictures. I'll be able to upgrade to a 220 or a little larger easily. I just don't want a larger tank until the fish get a little larger, I don't like empty looking tanks lol. Where did you get your vatf? I saw that sharkAquarium has them. Do you know how big the vatf gets in the aquarium? I've heard a max of 3 feet, but I'm curious if that is even common? Because I would consider one if the actual captive size is a little smaller.

I think sometime the guys that know most the answers arent on here all day either and by the time they check they never see your post. I try to help when i actually know the answer to the question but i just know what ive found kn other threads k. Still a noob myself pretty much lol.

Yeah I hear that. Which is why I always try to bump my threads at different times a day, but I still don't get any info lol. So I'm still thinking it's the post count thing. I also usually just end up reading through dozens of past threads, but it would sure be easier to just get a quick answer on a forum lol. Thanks for the response. By the way, that's a hell of a blue cat in your picture there.
