Okay I've made a couple of posts asking about Tesselatas and I'm coming round to the idea that it isn't the eel for me :(

I want to know what is

I'm getting a 72"x24"x30" deep tank its going to have a combination of fast colorful fish on the larger side I'm planning on multiple tangs, an emperor angelfish and maybe a volitans lionfish.

I want to know what Moray would be right for me I like the chunkier eels and unfortunately I think its the fish eaters I like, I'm not fond of the snowflake and zebra I really like the typical Moray face.

I've been looking at a fimbriated but have been told it won't co-exist with the stock I suggested so please suggestions.

Jeweled Morays certainly have the "look" would it be an idea to add it when my fish grow abit?

Could someone tell me how big Goldentail Morays get? What are they like temperment like?

Yes, that could work.

Goldentail morays get about the same size as the jeweled morays; I would imagine that their temperaments are similar.

Ok brilliant setup wise am I set for life with one of these? I'm planning on having a few active fish will this bug them or will they be ok?

morays need mutiple caves and hideouts to be happy. you wont see much activity during the day unless feeding or the eel decides to move to a new spot to chill out. With any fish eating moray your always going to run the risk of them eating smaller fish or tearing into larger ones. In all honesty my tesselata was never a big threat to anyone - he seemed pretty mild temperd. But my Fimbriated (yellow head - yellow devil) moray cost me over $100 in fish loss. He ate many fast damsel fish, killed both my serpant star fish, and took a few nips at my Volitan and ate a big chunk of a coral beauty tang that eventualy died from its injuries and eventualy ate his own cleaner shrimp buddy.

The Jewel morays are very attractive moray and from what iv seen are usualy quite timid and can probably be housed with larger tangs. But when your lights go out at night, thats the morays time to hunt.

Oh so is there a way to reduce this predation say feeding them a lot?

Have you had any experience with blue line groupers?

Ill say now that I don't plan on any small fish.

Keeping them well fed will help. but its ultimatly up to the moray weather he wants another snack or not.

Groupers - no. Iv always wanted one though lol had my eyes set on a peacock grouper but someone bought it before i did. They should make a decent tank mate due to their large size.

you can always minimiz fish loss by keeping noctural fish with the morays. Volitan lionfish are good company for the morays though as not many fish will take a risk biting something coverd in venomous spines. Plus they are fun to watch swim around and can become quite colourful. Go to my profile and check my photo albums for pics of my morays and volitan if you like.
