Hi, Im just starting to plan my dream tank for my new home and Ive decided that I definatly want to keep Green Terror('s). So what fish would go well with this fish, Ive been looking at red terrors, Oscars, Trimaculatum (Three spot Cichlids), Red devils, Texans, Jack Dempseys, Jaguar Cichlids. Any ideas? Tank size is not an issue within reason (Reason being about 2000 litres!) Basically I want a big tank with big bad American Cichlids that show some colour or interesting patterns, And maybe a big catfish of sorts.
Any input here will be much appreciated.
Thanks guys
Regards
Jim.

You can fit a lot of those in a tank that size. There should be a lot less aggression in a huge tank, so as long as you don't end up with breeding or crazy insano fish, most of those you listed will work.

When are you getting that monster?

I say Oscars, Jack Dempsey(s), Jaguars, Geophagus Brasiliensis, nigaraguensis, Trimac.
Just many of these fish

In my experience GTs are real nice mid aggressive Cichlids…A strong male may be too much for an Oscar to be happy with… but a female may not be able to hold her own with Red Devils or Trimacs (even females of these other species).

In my experience when we start mixing multiple big Cichlids… compatibility is a crap shoot (as in the dice game… not the other kind… no shooting crap into your tanks)…

Gender and Individuality both play such a huge role… I’ve also had big tanks with big fish and everything was peaceful… remove the most dominant fish and all hell breaks loose amongst the others… More fish equals more social dynamics… and these dynamics are difficult to predict at times…

Sounds good to me! I like an interesting tank and a challenge. Yeah the oscars a maybe, Im more interested in the devils and the terrors, not just because they have evil sounding names!! I have a genuine interest in Big cichlids ever since I adopted a trimac who now lives alone in a 4 foot tank. Its female so hopefullly she should be ok with terrors. Have you any experience with red terrors? I know allot about Africans and south American dwarfs but the big New world Cichlid thing is all new to me.

Well Im awaiting conformation on my new apartment so it will be a few months, but I want to start planning it now:drool:. Yes I did say apartment but its gonna be a ground floor with lots of space, and who needs a living room anyway!

I had 900 gallons of tanks in my last apartment... it's doable ;)

Here's what the "dinning room" looked like...

That's awesome...just be careful not to put Mountain Dew in the tanks and drink Prime though :)

I would think the oscar could work but you'd want a really big one (shouldn't be a problem, they grow fast). With several fish the aggression gets spread around, they thing to watch out for is if one fish at the bottom of the pecking order is being really singled out and beaten up.

A GT & Jack Dempsey would be a nice start for what you're looking to achieve here. They have similar attitudes, and both very colorful.
