It's that time of the year where I know some members worry about the temperature in their tanks. Post up your ideas to keep your tank cool during the summer months:)

Ice Wands, Fans, etc...give your experience on what you do.

I actually lower my water levels to let the canister filter output aerate the water. It keeps it a little cooler than keep it topped off.

I have used fans coupled with open tops, which works well in low humidity.

What I do now is add cold water. I hooked up a small pump to the 'cool' side of my temperature controller. This pumps to my septic/drain pipe. A float valve refills the sump with cold well water, so the hotter it is the more water gets changed.

I used to try to avoid heat build up at all costs. Since I've started changing water continuously I actually try to retain all the heat I can to save electricity.

Water chiller Pacific Coast CL85 Micro Aquarium Chiller $200

I don't really worry about in door tank! for outdoor tank and pond, I add some more air stones to get more Oxygen into the water, put more floating plants on top! the temperature is about 10-15 F degrees cooler! this is the method I used when i was in Vietnam, not sure about in here where the humidity usually a lot lower!

8000 BTU Window AC Unit for the room where my tank is located (only 150g tank). Bought it new off craigslist for $30 and it keeps my tank at 78F.

Also this is the same room where my PC is located and is folding when I'm not gaming.

Being in Hong Kong where summers are hot and every one has an Air-Con, i just turn lift the lid on my tank and let the air-con cool down the tank
