How high is your tank temperature going up to during this hot summer?

Mine is hitting 85 with no heater.

wow, are you leaving it or going to try and cool it?

Keep the surface of your water very aggitated. ie. powerhead, airstone, lower water level, etc...

Most anything SA will be okay at those temps for awhile.:)

No water movement will cause the temps to get higher. While lots of surface water movement will let the water frequently come into contact with colder air and release hotter air.

I find that directing a fan across the water surface helps as well. I keep an axolotl (they need 60-70 deg F) so I'm constantly battling with temperature issues. I also keep a few frozen gallon jugs on hand just in case.

A bubble wand or a powerhead with air tubing hooked up to it will cool the tank down a bit.

Or you could do what we did, drill a hole in the outflow of a canister filter and stick an airline tube attached to a bubble box in it, lol.

Helps to aerate the water too since hotter water holds less dissolved oxygen.

Point a fan at the tank(s) too.
