would this work?

I am looking to convert one of my old 5fters into a suitable sump with a pump to flow over 4000 lph for my new 8fter
(I don't feel like purchasing a new sump) they have gotten pretty expensive :(

hopefully there would be about 2 ft of bio balls (length ways) and 1.5 ft for the pump section (there will be heaters in there too) allowing up to 1.5 for various media wool, sponge, carbon etc..

Please let me know if anyone can see any floors in this design?

cheers!

I don't know why you're saving 1.5 ft for your pump section. That's wasted space. You'll only need 8 to 12" for that section and that'll give you additional space for the bio-chamber. I'd also recommend placing your heaters either below your media tower or left of the first weir since the water level in this section will remain constant. Placing heaters in the pump section is an accident waiting to happen. This section's water level varies with the rate of evaporation. Miss refilling/replacing lost water by one day can result in blown heaters.
