I am just in the process of designing and building a sump for my new 260 tank that is gonna be my christmas present.
I am wondering if it is possible to build a sump out of polycarbonate sheet in 8mm as i can get it dirt cheap. Now I know that acrylic has been used lots to build tanks and sumps, and I am wondering if i can use polycarbonate in the same way. I know polycarbonate can be joined in a similar way so i can see no reason as to why not. So is this possible and if not what are the reasons why.

Build a frame for it and put the polycarbonate in there. Look up "arl" on this forum. He built his 700g tank w/ a fram and sheet and sealed it w/ no problems.

Thanks for the replies guys.
As far as I am aware polycarbonate should bond in a similar fashion to acrylic, i think weld on 16 will bond polycarbonate but I am not sure need to check.I know that silicone will not bond to polycarbonate. The only reason I am even considering polycarbonate is i can get it dirt cheap way cheaper than i can get cast acrylic for so it may make it worthwhile if i can be certain of the bond strength.
