I've been searching but cant seem to find the right way to do this. I have a 300 gal tank with a 40 gal sump located underneath. I'm looking for some type of pump to clean the sump. A siphon type isnt very effective since the sump is only about 4" off the floor. Does anyone have an idea of a possible electric pump to do this or would the faucet mount type cleaner work?

I use my python, it's suction is decreased b7t 8t works.

I don't clean my sump. Don't have to. Filter socks and a power head, it stays cleaner than the tank does. I just vacuum the tank bottom, swap filter socks every month. That's it. Don't do water changes either.

I keep a small micron filter sock handy and zip tie it over the return to the main tank from the sump when doing sump maintenance. Anything stirred up get's picked up by the pump and caught by the sock.

I have a powerhead with a long tube conntected to the input. I put a hose on the output that goes to a bucket.

I just move it around like a gravel vac
