so what goes in a sw sump? i read over on reef central that your not supposed to have mech and bio filtration, but only rock and a skimmer? im asking because now im considering using my rr 100g with diy sump, which is your typical rubbermaid tub with the 2 drawer setup, one for mech and one for bio. could i just drop in a skimmer in the sump and be done with my "conversion" from fw to sw? of course also adding sand and rock to the tank.

rock is bio filtration. i do run mech. just a wad of wool in my overflow. keeps my sump cleaner, i feel. i have a skimmer and a refugium of chaeto as well.
thanks. im aware live rock is bio but can i still run my wet dry bio, the typical scrubbies and ceramic/glass media?
A wet dry bio is okay. Anything to keep ammonia & nitrites down. I recommend you read up on SW chemistry to get your head around how you can best keep your water reef-friendly. Fewer mistakes down the road.
