Sump filter sunlight and algae

Will algae have any bad effect on sump tank?
My tanks are outdoor and it recieves sunlight, before i used to cover the sump so that algae won't grow in my sump, but I wasd wondering if it will effect the sump if its exposed to sunlight? should i keep it covered?or will it be ok to expose the sump to morning sun?

Algae will clog media...

Other than that, no... it will not have any adverse effects...

its good for it actually, algea eats excess neutrients and nitrtes

Algea is nutritious for the fishes...
Just kinda unsightly.

I'm just worried what effect sunlight or algae will have on my bio filter/sump
