Right now I am thinking to buy an used 1000 gallon salt water tank.

I want to convert it to a fresh water tank.

But i am not familar with Sump set up.

Questions:

1. Does the salt water sumple work for freshwater?

2. What should I do to convert this salt water tank to fresh water tank?

3. The old sump is too large (300 gallon). It cannot be put under the stand. Can you change to a smaller size like 200 gallon?

4. Can I get rid of this sump and use the pond filter? Is this a good idea?

5. If I use pond filter, will I pay more hydro bill than using the Sump?

Thanks for any help.

You don't need a 300 gallon sump.

just clean it

a pond filter should work fine

I don't see how either would affect your water usage.
