I'll soon be getting a 150 gal tank and i'm really interested in using a sump. I'm capable enough to build my own and i have a spare 35 gal tank. Is that big enough, and if not how big should it be. I plan on the tank setup to be "river like" with a sand bottom and live plants. If a sump isn't possible for me (cost) then what kind of filtration would work best with this setup?
