I think I am going to start the sump for 90g arcylic this weekend. I have to drill out for an overflow, and maybe just put the return through the top? I will get the dimensions tonight. Do I drill from the inside or, or outside in? I will have at least 2 x 5-9" peacock bass in it at first. How many gph should I flow? I want to lean toward over doing it. I was thinking maybe 1 1/4" overlfow and tubing flowing 600-800gph? I am going to get probably a 30g or so rubber bin, with a bio tower inside of it. I think I am going to use lava rock and lego's or something of that nature. I have heard of using plastic mesh pot scrubbers.. is that for bio media, or like floss? The sump will be my only filtration.

After I get dimensions what about placement of overflow and return? I dont want to have to use any powerheads for dead spots When I decide where for the overflow, I just drill the hole, install the overflow and connections and silicone it off, right? Also maybe use a rubber mat and cut it into a gasket. I have seen instead of 90* bent "overflows" its just a straight drain? Any benefits to either?

Other media.. I am going to put some sacks of carbon in the bottom. Easy to take out when medicating the water. Anything else?

I am going to cap everything pretty well. Will that affect the bacteria negatively? I am going to cut two holes in the bin lid for intake and return lines. Hopefully just the size of the plumbing.. bigger if I have to have my biotower sticking above the stop of the bin. One hole in the biotower for the intake.

Thanks everyone!

I think thats it for now.

No one? I bought the 90* pvc overflow and the other hardware tonight. I am probably going try to drill tomorrow. I am pretty sure I am ok drilling acryilic myself... But I still need help. I am going to water test afterward, but still. I want help! anyone??? PLEASE!

I also got a 35g rubbermaid ruffneck bin, a 5g bucket that previously had rabbit food, a few sponges; and I am going to order 1g of bio balls and other bio media get a few plastic pot scrubbers, a heater for the sump and a sump pump. I was thinking 750gph mag. I have a 1.5" overlfow. That will work with the loss in gph due to about 4" of head loss, right?

PLEASE! HELP!

and bump...

Thanks!
Daniel
