looking to try and save a few bucks and buy a container to use as my sump.... i have a 40 gallon, 3 compartment sump, that i'm looking to modify, so all my drains come into this, which will handle all the biological and mechanical filtration.... i then just need to put this inside of a 100-150 gallon tub, which is my question. Where can i get a tub, preferably no more than 18 inches in width and height, but can be 8, even 10 feet long, so that it fits under my tank, and can serve this purpose... it isnt the end of the world if i have to put it outside, i would just prefer it under.... also i'm using a submersable pump, so no holes will be drilled into this tub. Anyone have any ideas on a cheap tub that could serve this purpose... i know my LFS will charge a fortune to fabricate one. Thanks all

So you want the 40 gallon to hold the media, and then drain into the tub?
Return pumps in the tub?

It's going to be hard (if not impossible) to find a long container that is only 18" wide and high and 8-10 feet long, and able to hold water..

Have you thought of putting the biofilter inside the tank? I have a set up like this on my 300 gallon.. works like a dream.. there's nothing that can go wrong with this set up (no worry about water all over the floor).. It's well worth giving up a little real estate in the tank, imo..

Just get a cheap stock tank. Also knows as a watering troughs for animals. Or also find a couple 55 gallon tanks drill them and conect together.

Be careful though.. Most 55 gallon tanks are tempered glass and should not be drilled.

yeah something actually kind of fell into my lap.... my buddy gave me his old 125 gallon tank... its too big to fit under so i have it behind.... actually got the tank all moved in, doing all the plumbing now which of course, as with every DIY project i try, i'm running into problems, but hopefully by the weekend everything will be going and my fish will be moved
