Hey guys, sup?

Im going to buy my first sump. At the moment I will use for my tank, but later I will use it for my aquarium.

It will be build for a 1200 L aquarium. So I want it to have 300 L, its not going to be a dry wet.

1 - Overflow drop
2- Large sponge
3- Medium Sponge
4- Small sponge
5- Screen to separate pump from the ceramics

Im thinking about a pump around 2500~3500 L/hour. Is this enough?
Im thinking of connecting an UV filter to the pump at the return of the water to the tank.

So, are these dimensions ok, I mean, will it be large enough?
Will the pump output do the job?

Thanks guys!

SOunds like it will work. But bigger the better. Instead of sponges i would use filter socks. They can be washed(no soap), and re-used.

+1 for the filter socks

I've learned one thing about sumps= KISS (Keep it simple stupid). I run filter socks 7" if you can, pond Matrix in laundry bags, sponge filter, no baffles/dividers, and 10X turn over.

I'm not sure abt 10x turn over, I have always been taught that if the flow is too fast, ur media will be less effective. I would go for 4x turn over. Maybe add a canister to get better Bio filtration.

Nice!

I will make less dividers for sponge and I will change it for filter socks.

So guys, Im not used to filter socks, and it appears to be sold like this:

How I will change sponges for it, since sponge will be like a ''screen'' filling sump divisions?

And what about the pump output?

10x turnover is so weird man.. It will make a strong flow in the water, and I supose its not the ideal for the peacocks (there are some that live in fast rivers, but its not usual), and for my pockets.. hahaha

Im thinking about a 5x/h maximum.

With a large sump 10X is perfect, you're right with a small sump that would be too much throw flow through your media. One thing that all experienced Cichla keepers agree with is 10x turnover is preferred. I have kept healthy Pbass for many years like this.
