I was thinking about building a sump for my 300 gal. I don't want to drill any holes do to the stock of fish already in it. My obstacle is it's a one piece unit. The stand is 2" angle iron, welded all around glass as well. The top lip of the angle protrudes inward all the way around the top. It was a little difficult to get my fx5 to fit so how should I go about trying the overflow? Please speak like I'm 10 yrs old, I've never dealt with an overflow/sump set up. THKS.

Have you thought about the DIY overflow made out of regular PVC piping?? There are really good threads on here on how to make them. Some pics of your setup would help see what you're up against here.

Are you also wanting to know on what type of sump to build?

I'll try to get some pics up. I like the overflow posted by eh1421. Would that work if I made the in 90 and the out 90 further apart? I also like the diy from jd man, his 55 gal sump I mean. Thats what I was thinking anyway. I'm not sure on the size it will be yet.
