Hey all

Quick run down, I got some second hand unused tanks which where pre drilled i figured putting a sump together would be piss easy but I am lost.

Ahh This forum always plays up on me when I add pictures! Anyways i used the front tank for both the pictures ones 8FTx18x18 the others 7FTx18x18 with a 7ftx18x18 sump with 3 tier stand!

I think I understand the first one, Pretty much 2 bulk heads add some pvc piping down to the sump and a turn pump with pvc up to the hold on the side, so the 2 ones in the lower section siphons the water into the sump then over the media pump pulls water up into the side hole? Which means this tank would have to be on the lower section of the stand as the pipes go straight down? also lots of posts I looked over they build a box inside the tank so the water level slides down the box I believe this is so encase of a power outage the whole tank wont drain?

The second tank confuses me a lot! theres no holes in the lower area only the higher sides which leads me to think as google wont help! I need to pump the water out of the 2 side holes and have a return pump that is stronger to pump the water back into the middle section? Or will the water magical fall down siphons style if I connect some bulk heads with piping? :D

Thanks to anyone who helps and sorry if I dont make any sense Its all to confusing for me :(

Possibly the most confusing pics I've ever seen. Id suggest doing a pic of each tank seperately and have them right side up. Will make this a lot easier

8 foot tank : you will need to either build 2 a overflow boxes for the holes or have the piping come up from the bulkhead to where you want your water level to be. if you do'nt do that , water could be draining much faster than your pump pumping it back into the tank = disaster.
i would put the 8 foot tank on top, having the pipes extend from the bottom holes to where you want your water level to be, then the 2nd tank in the middle tier, install a bulk head to the top hole of it to have water drain into the sump, then have the pump from the sump pump water to the top tank through the 8 footer top hole.

basically as water is being pumped from your sump to the the top tank , it will fill it until it hits the top of the pipes , then it drains down to the mid tier and start filling that until it hits the top hole of the 2nd tank then it drain back down to the sump

so pretty much I need to build or buy something like a Skimz Acrylic Overflox Box? for each outtake hole on the 8 footer? then run that to the 7ft? from the 7ft the water drains to the sump?

then pump from sump up to the 8 footer and connect it to the 2 spare holes in the 7ft?

or so the overflow boxes go onto the 7ft tank? and pipes from the 2 lower cuts of the 8ft run to the 7ft a overflow box on each side hole connects then runs donw into the sump from there the pump pushes up into the middle hole of the 7ft tank and the 8ft tank?

Sorry I am really confused :( Thanks for explaining!
