Ok I looked around the forum and everything and I still just need some help lol.

180 gallon tank with a 20 long sump. How do I go about doing this exactly? If someone could give me some drafts/designs on how to actually make the sump and how to set it up and how to get the water in the sump and pump it back up would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone could give me a link to a thread that would help that would be appreciated too.

Thanks a lot

First you'll need to find a firm table to set the 20g tank on. Then fill it with guppies.

...or maybe neon tetras.

Then start looking for a tank that is approx. 30% of your display tank. In other words, be on the lookout for a 60-75g tank (make sure it will fit in your stand) (in it and INTO it). You don't want this happening:

That picture is what someone local to me is trying to do. It won't fit in past the doors. Also, look at the top edge of his sump. You'll need working room when the tank is in the stand.

Oh, one other thing. Have a look at the sticky sections at the top of the DIY page and DIY Filter page.

While you are in the set up stage, you should take your time and drill the tank. In the long run, you'll be glad you did.

Yeah definately going to need a larger sump. Shoot for a 55g or bigger.

You'll need to either drill your tank and install an overflow (preferred) or make/buy a HOB overflow, then run that down to your sump and through your filters and then pump it back into the tank, pretty simple. As Chompers said check out the DIY section for lots of ideas.
