I dont have overflow boxes built in more rather a hole (with a tube going into the tank) in the top corner of the tank for overflow with piping going out into the sump.

Anyways, every couple minutes or so it seems like their is a rush of water down into the sump and then a loud squeaky farty kissy noise that comes out of the pipe and its really annoying. Then it goes back to the steady drip.

Anyone knows why this happens? or any way to fix it?

That is when the water fills the pipe and creats a full syphon. It sucks the water down the pipe at a faster rate for a second. then the water level in the tank lowers and it sucks air breaking the syphon. There are a few ways to fix this.

Where there is a 90* elbow at the top pointing down, swap it out for a T with a pipe pointing up as a vent. This will act the same as the vent on your bathroom sink or bathtub.

Swap out the drain pipe with a bigger one. You might still get the same problem, just not as bad.

Put a ball valve on the bottom of the dain pipe. The point of this is to restrict the water enough to absorb the "bounce". You would adjust it to keep the water level in the tank just above the top of the hole in the tank so it can't suck air, and you won't ever get that noise. Some people say that you shouldn't restrict the drain, but if it is done right, it won't be a problem. One of my tanks had this problem and I used ball valves on the drains and haven't heard the noise ever since. It has been this way for about two years now and haven't had any problems at all.
