I set my sump running on Friday (135 gallon tank, 29 gallon sump), it was running fine for the first 24 hours, after i added the fish into the tank on Saturday I had a "little" flooding incident. My own fault admittedly since i displaced water when i added rocks/bogwood/old tank water/old filter media. Took water out and everything seemed fine.
Since then the water level in the first section of the sump seems be slowly but surely rising, like it did before it flooded the first time, the last section with the pump is fairly low. I'm worried about it flooding again.
I've been sitting in front of it now, just turned down the flow on the pump and it seems to have levelled the water levels out a bit, but I noticed that the return pipe has a small leak where a join is. Could this be affecting it?
I plan on sealing it, probably tomorrow evening since it's already midnight here, but I dont want to leave the pump off too long, so would it be okay to leave the silicone an hour maybe, no water running before restarting it (silicone says 15 minutes to skin but no info on how long to cure)
Just realised what a long post this is, but it being my first sump im supremely paranoid about flooding my house again.
Oh and I have tested to make sure the sump doesnt flood when the power goes out (i did do this before it flooded the first time though so i dont know if it makes a difference)
