Ok so I'm trying to learn more about sumps. Like the different ways to make them and set them up, what kind of media they use, how to install the overflow, is a pump used in the overflow does it use gravity to bring the water to the sump? What purpose does a refugium serve? If anyone knows any articles they could post about different sump setups and their purpose in detail it would be greatly appreciated.

I only put the pump in the sumps, sending water up to the tank, and let gravity move water from tank to sump.
I have some siphon overflows, but find drilling the tank to be much more efficient, and less apt to have a mishap such as a break in siphon causing the tank to overflow onto the floor.
