So I have this 36g acrylic tank curently occupied with 11 big goldfish in the garage. They have outgrown their tank and I want a sump for my 210 African tank.
>Is a 36g big enough for say 1500gph?
>Is it better to have an abundance of mech filtration over bio?
>Should I drill this tank for an external pump via bulkhead or use a submersible pump?

Currently the tank has an Ehiem 2250, an Ehiem 2026 with no bio connected to a Laguna 1000 UV clarifier. My water perameters are perfect but I'm not happy with the look of the tank with all this junk on the back wall...

My goal is better water flow, to eliminate downtubes, heaters and powerheads in the aquarium for more room and save some electricity maybe...
I want to do this on the cheap so this "extra" tank I have would be perfect....I think.
Suggestions from all will be greatly appriciated!!
