Anyone ever use this, or a similar product, in their sump:

If so, would this be the equivalent of a polishing pad in a canister?

I would like to put this under the first layer of matting which doesn't seem to be catching enough of the #%$&. They sell it in 50 and 100 micron and I was actually thinking of getting both and putting two layers of 100 and then one layer of 50 under the blue mat filter stuff which is, itself, under a small container with holes it in filled with filter floss. Hard to describe that set-up, but it does work.

I know this stuff would have to be replaced often, and I'm okay with that...just want to know how fine it is and if it actually works.

i just go to walmart in the sewing department and buy bulk white felt material and cut my pads out of it myself. it really does a great job polishing the water and is dirt cheap.
you buy it by the yard off a bulk roll, it so cheap like 2.99 a yard and you get lots of pads out of it. i dont bother washing and reusing it but you can.
i been using it for a few years in my wet dry filters and have no complaints it does a great job.

I use the same, cheapest canister filter pad ever, and i get to change it out as much as I want without paying buttloads of money. Dont try cheese cloth though. I thought it would be a sweet idea to wrap my pads in cheesecloth, but it desinegrates in the water.
