sump media clean

Vacuumed sump once in almost two years. Never cleaned bio-balls. Replace socks and blue-white and felt pads every two weeks. Wash, rinse, repeat. It takes a while to get worn so I reuse.

I put bio media in mesh bags, so its very easy for me pull out a bag, and to shake it around in some old water change water with every water change. I also believe this gets rid of older, worn out bio-bacteria making room for the more robust to survive.
I don't use floss, but instead use scrubbies and filter socks.
I like to swish around the scrubbies in the some old water every other day, and the filter socks need rinsing every week or so.

I'm pretty close to duanes. I have filter socks and bio media in laundry bags. I've used the same media for almost 2 years. Same filter socks.

I change/rinse/reuse filter socks every 2-4 weeks.

I have a K1 moving bed with socks. I swish my hand on the bottom occasionally to get the gunk pushed back in the water column to either get vacuumed out or caught in socks. Or settle back on bottom?
