As mentioned in my previous thread, I am moving my RTC into it's own tank.
I have a 142 US GAL sump attached to the new tank.

I was wondering what would be the best choices in terms of sump media, for a fish
with such a high bio-load. All water parameters have been testing and are currently
fine, as I have started up the tank using one cannister filter from the old tank.

Additional questions, is there any place/use where driftwood can be used as sump media?
Just asking because I have some that has been soaking for years now, and I don't really
want to see it go to waste. It will be of no use in the older tank, as I am turning that into
an African Cichlid tank.

what kind of sump is it?

wet/dry = bioballs

submerged = high quality ceramic rings. I get mine from fishtankfactory

I think it's wet/dry ... not 100% sure to be honest.
This is really my 1st time dealing with a sump, I've always been a cannister-man :)

I took a couple of pictures, not sure if it shows much, but I tried to focus
on what I thought looked important lol. The photos show, the empty tank and
sump, where is is now (semi-filled), and then various parts of the sump system.

Truth be told, I was going to do a marine setup, so the sump was meant to have a DSB.

Sell that sump to someone who wants a marine tank and make one that is designed for your intended purpose. There's not much room for bio media in there, unless you remove the last baffle and have bags of noodles or somilar sitting there submerged. But IMO with a big fish like RTC you'd be far better off with purpose built one with space for heavy duty mechanical and bio filtration.

after doing the research my sump media choices are poret foam, seachem pond matrix, and alfa grog (actually one word that gets censored-al***rog)
wood is not a good filter material.
