I'm sure some of you have seen my 125g project. I already have 2 Eheim 2075's ready to go. I was going to add 2 Emperor 400's as well, but I recently found the Eshopps wet dry system that includes the overflow box. I thought this would be a better fit than 2 HOB's. Anyway, if I used pot scrubbers instead of the included bio balls, would I be in really good shape? I planned on just getting the small version. What type of pump would you guys recommend for this setup? What's the best way for me to use this setup? I can't wait for the sump guys to teach me a thing or two. :)

Should I keep the bio balls? Would a Supreme Classic 500 be ideal?

Would it be a lot cheaper and easier to just make my own with a 20 gallon tank?

You could make your own with a tank but you would have to put all the baffles in with silicone. You would do three chambers. I would also do a bigger tank than 20 gal. I would do the largest that will fit under there. Also if you use the small overflow box I think a mag 12 will pump more water than will drain. I would use a mag 7.
