So I have decided to put a sump in my 180 gallon. I have an extra 55 gallon tank with no use so I would like to use it. However it doesn't fit under the stand. I had read about this online and most people say to cut the center brace but then I realized how my stand is built. Is there anyway to fit a 55 gallon through this stand (i.e. cutting through it). If so, is it even worth it?

You can always take tank to a place that can cut the glass down for you. I know some one that did that for the same reason. I'm sure there are going to be some better suggestions though

What do you mean by does not fit? The space in the stand is not big enough? the opening in the front of the stand is big enough? If you are talking abut the doors not being big enough to put the tank in the stand. Drain the 180 gallon tank. remove the brace. put the 55 gal tank in. then put the stand back together and fill your tanks.

So it wouldn't be a problem if I removed that brace? It's 2 pieces of wood thick so I was worried if this would be a problem. Also when I say it doesn't fit I mean I can't get it to fit through the doors.

What about the back of the stand ? Better to make an opening in the back or side and then fit the sump and then cover it back up. Most likely going to be against a wall or something to cover the new door and you can make it look good as well.

The back of the stand is looks exactly the same except without the doors. Also, there's is a hole at the bottom of the stand, so I guess that could work. I put a link to the pictures in my first post.

Can you remove the 180 from the stand and drop the 55 in from the top, correction don't drop place.

No the top is closed off, but the bottom isn't so I guess I can put it in through there. The only problem is I'm pretty much going to have to wait until spring because it's too cold to just keep the fish in a bucket while I do all of this. I have a smaller 20 gallon but I;m growing some fish in there and they would surely get eaten. I was mainly just asking for ways in which I could do this without removing the tank or emptying. Thanks for the help!
