Sump on a pond?

You guys think it will be possible? Its just an idea my dad and I just thought about. I think it will help get rid with the leaves and and sap. The pond is about 1075 gallons. I went to my lfs earlier today and he had a used sump for $30. I think im going to pick it up to try it out with my pond. If it doesnt work out them ill just use it on one of my tanks.

sure i guess it could work but then again i do not have a pond or know much about their up keep. i could just see that thing getting full of leaves real fast but i really don't know GL
 
Doesn't look right to me, you are pumping water down hill...?

But of course there are many ways to fit a 'sump' to a pond...below, besides or above.

The sump will be beside the pond.
