After posting my original thread and getting not much in the way of response I will assume that my idea contained in this thread

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381332

Is not likely to be viable or safely done,re the risks of flooding without using a weir/overflow,please read and give views if you like.

My next question is if you were doing a new build 260 that will be drilled to have either canisters or sump running through the base of the tank which would you choose and why.The tank will have a drain straight to the house drainage to allow for auto water change. It must go flush back against the wall so nothing coming through or over the back
This needs to be as maintanance friendly/longest cleaning interval, whilst keeping water parameters acceptable,as possible as I have serious back and knee problems,so I dont want to be cleaning out canister filters every other month if possible hence my original idea.
So what would you do?

run a sump and a drip system.

the sump is very easy to maintain, just switch out you filter pads or socks.

a drip system will allow you to not need to worry about water changes.

Run 5 FX5.

I would love to be able to afford to put 5 canisters on the tank although the FX5 would not be my first choice as they clog up to quickly, according to various posts on forums.

fx5's only clog fast when you use the polishing pads(which are not necessary)i clean mine maybe once a month sometimes longer, but a sump and water changer would be way easier than any canister not matter what brand

Yeah that sound like the sort of info I have heard re the FX5,but I think the sump and auto changer will be a far better idea and will reduce maintanance and make it easier.

Not going to clog up when you have five because you spread out what's causing the clog to each one of them and distribute them evenly.
