Hi All,

This is my first post!

I am about to purchase a 8X3X3 aquarium for my 7in Mbu to call home and I need some advice.

I'm tinkering with the idea of having a sump filter with 2 weirs as opposed to canister filtration.

My question is
  • Is a sump a better choice over canisters?
  • I know my tank 'should' be bigger but will my Mbu be ok in it?
Thanks in advance if anyone can advise me,

Regards Arks.

Both sumps and canisters are good choices. Generally, sumps are better at bio filtration and canisters are better at mechanical filtration.

Some people (such as myself) run both.

Yes, I thought of hanging a Fluval Fx5 of the back, I just wondered if the sump would be enough I suppose I'll suck it and see. Thanks

Heating and circulating that tank will be more ecconomical with a sump. Also, no down tubes, heaters or whatnot in the tank as clutter. Cost initially will be lower with a canister unless you get the sump used.

i love my fluval canister, its sooooooooo quiet
