hi, i have just ordered a custom 48x24x18 tank which is going to be filtered by a 150 ltr sump (approx) which i think is approx 450ltr total volume. the sump will be approx 1-1.5mtrs below the tank. i am trying to find the best value pump for this set up and have come up with the ehiem +2000 which boasts 1000-2000 lph and max head of 2.3. the next pump up is the +3000 which runs 1500-3000 lph and max head of 3.0 the 2000 uses only 35w and the 3000 65w which is twice as much and although the flow rate is a lot more i dont think this size tank would need it and there would be no point in paying more for the larger only to have to turn the flow down and still incur the higher running costs? the drain on this tank is 32mm (1 1/4).

ps the reason for choosing the compact is obviously the better price compared with the universal. and this set up is going way over budget:WHOA:

cheers for any help regards richard.
