Im thinking about adding a diy sump filter to my 90g tank. Its gonna be about 5 feet from the pump back to the tank. I was gonna just get a canister filter but it seems a good sump setup is hard to beat for biological filtration ( which is mainly what im after now ). Any recommendations on a submersible pump that has good flow/ dependability and wont break the bank so to speak.

idk maybe 3, 4 even 5 times. Im looking at the quiet one 3000.It is suppose to do 780gph and the max head is 9 ft. I can get this pump for 50 bucks. The other pump im looking at is a ViaAqua 2600, its suppose to do 740 gph and a 7 ft. max head. this one is 40 bucks. Another concern is that if i have two 1 inch diy pvc overflows would it be enough for either of the pumps.

Not going to recommend one pump over the other, but will say…
Spend the few extra dollars to get a pump that will give you more GPH than you think you will need.
You can always find a way to control excess flow, but once your pump is maxed out…

thanks for the reply, the rio pumps look like a good buy. One of their pumps is 5 dollars more than the quiet one and says is flows over 1k gph at one ft head. Anyone know what that would be at 5 feet, how much difference will 4ft make in the output.
