Sump Pumps? Recommendations?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just a very general opinion I like submersible pumps for ease of plumbing. I use Quiet One pumps. I stick with the same pump for all my tanks. It's helpful for quick replacements if (when) a pump goes out. The Quiet One series of pumps seem to have parts readily available. When a pump fails I do a quick swap out of pumps to keep the fish happy. Then I repair the broken pump and it's my new spare.

Do your pumps fail often or are they a pretty reliable pump? Just went to Foaster and Smith and checked them out. I completely missed them when I was looking earlier, thanks for the feedback!

We use 3 of the new Supreme HY-Drive pumps in the sump of our 535 tank. They appear to be very efficient, and are very quiet. They also provide heat for the aquarium (good in winter, we'll see this summer). we have 2 of the WFP4000 units and 1 of the 3200 units. Had the 3200 since last year with no issues other than great operation.
