So I am starting to gather supplies to my my 750 Gallon Frontosa tank. The fish are currently in a 125g (6 foot tank). My plan is to use either the 125 gallon or another 120 gallon (4 foot) tank as the sump for the 750. With the 2 tanks having similar volume, what are the pros and cons of a longer narrow sump vs a shorter wider sump. I plan on doing a wet sump with filter socks and most likely a refugium to double as a fry tank if the frontosa spawn. Thoughts??

I’d assume you can make extra chambers lengthwise in the 125g. For the 120g you’ll have to make extra dividers in, t-shapes,to reroute the water to have more chambers.

how long is your 750. If long enough you can connect the 2 smaller tank to make a bigger sump like I did.

The tank is going to be 13'L x 36"W x 30"D. Im leaning towards using the 120, that way I can repurpose the front and back glass on the 125 to make the viewing windows on the new display tank. If I use the 125, I will have to purchase new glass for the viewing panels.
