Hi folks, I added a sump to my 150g tank a few months ago. If I stop the pump, when I start it again a load of whitish gunk gets pumped into the display.
Water parameters are good and sump is clean. The fish seem fine.
It clears up in about 5 minutes.
Should I be worried?
Thanks

Whiteish gunk?
Is it air bubbles being chopped into a very fine cloud?

Its not air bubbles... look like something is accumulating on the return pipe that comes off when the pump is stopped and started.

Don't worry about it. It's just a build up of bio film in your return pipe. It looks unsightly but it's harmless. You can periodically clean your return at maintainance time and that will help.

I agree, if it’s not air then it has to be the film that accumulates on the inside of the plumbing.
