sump questions

hi , i see a lot of pics of sumps that have 4 or 5 different types of media in them with many different chambers.

i am using a sump with just a foam pre filter and then bioballs , can anyone tell me if this is ok or wha t to do to get it working properly , i have about 15 lt of balls in a 55lt sump on a 400lt tank with a resonably small bioload.

is this all the biological filtration i need?

Im not sure about the amount needed, but I do know that all you need is the prefilter/bioballs. Thats all I am currently running in mine and its working great.
