i am building a two hundred fourty six gallon ply tank some stuff i dont understand is how to keep your sump pump from over filling your tank or also keeping the water level up over the drain bulkhead some questions would be great
You allow your overflow to completely drain in to your sump and then start your pump. That way is something happens your sump and pump won't put more then what the tank can hold. As long as you have a pump that can pump more then what the overflow is bringing in you won't have a problem keeping the water level right. I'm in the process of doing mine, and the hardest part is keeping the overflow running.
what I am thinking is two bulkheads maybe the outlet turned up at a ninety degree angle with an open top and that will drain out through there and I'll have that opened up where I want it to drain
Before i do a wc i turn my pump off and all excess water will flow into the sump.
When filling my tank i fill it until the first water flows back into the overflow.
And turn the pump back on.
Biggest problem was when my pre-filter got clogged and not enough water came back into the sump. Then my pump wouldt pump air, then water, then air again...
Nowadays i keep it filled well and that hardly happens anymore.
