Finally got my new, used 265g up and running. Started it at 5pm yesterday, and finished at 3am. Had to break down the 125g, and had leaks in the tubing for the sump which took hours it seemed.
Right now I just have the 30g sump tank that came with it. I will eventually upgrade as the fishies get bigger, and have the time. Using 2 quiet1one 4000 pumps, some bioballs and floss/foam stuff.
My main issue here is we just have the the inlets into the sump laying on top of the floss, which causes some random spraying out. Should we get a longer pipe and cut it into the egg crates or just build a cover lid for it?
Also, it's noisy....not the pumps themselves, but the water flow. Is that normal? I noticed that the pump level itself when running is halfway today....was deliriously tired last night so didn't really care....Should the sump water level be 3/4 full when running? Would that cut down on the noise? And there's lots of air in the lines, which I guess is the main source of the swooshing noise.
