Hey everyone! I am looking to make a sump for my 240 gallon. I have an external over flow with one 2 inch return and one 2 inch intake. I also want to make the sump a fluidized bed filter with mechanical filtration as well. I am wondering what size sump should i use, what size pump and how it all should be plumbed. Thanks in advanced.

I would get a 75 or 90...preferably a 90.

Then, use both 2” ports as drains. Use one as the main drain and the other as the emergency drain. Just bring the returns over the top of the tank.

I recommend filter socks for mechanical filtration and then setup your fluidized media and use two Jebao DCP 8000’s as your return pumps.

I also had a question because my tank has an external overflow and was wondering what would be the best place to drill a return line?(also what size return line?) I was thinking inside the overflow box but not sure if there will be enough room. I will use the 2 2" intake lines for a herbie style overflow.
