HELLO, monstefishkeepers!! I'm looking for your guys advice since fish stores seem to always want to sell me things instead of giving me wise advice. I have a acrylic 100gallon tank with stand. Under it i have my diy tub with a crate that contains jap mat in the first shelf, bio balls in the 2 and 3rd, media in the 4th. then i have my pump on my leftover space. The only thing that keeps bothering me is the fact that i dont want to spend so much on a hang on overflow system. does anyone have any ideas how i could run my tank without one that would still leave my sump optional for usage? please feel free to post pictures of your sump designs. Any advice would be great! Thanks guys. :)

The external overflow boxes by eshoppes are pretty cheap and work well. Or if you don't want to spend that much money you could look into a DIY pvc overflow setup, There is a really good sticky on it. Good luck!

CPR and eshopps make the most reliable and best looking. DIY is always cheaper, but you have to make sure to make it out of the right size pipe. Also, the DIY set-ups are an all-in-the-tank style, taking up room.

true. the only issue i have with an overflow box is that it doesnt always suck up everything off the floor :/ such a hastle having to clean it up with my net every other day

I don't have any subtrate. I have a bare bottom tank. and yes i use a sump pump as a powerhead. does anybody have any pictures of a way to run pvc pipes from the sump to the tank? That would really help me out a lot by the way! Thanks everyone. Please post some pictures of the way you run your sump!!!
