Should I go with 2x 55's or one 90 gallon sump? Leaning towards the dual 55s due to price. One for each drain, would also have to pick up another mag 18, which I wouldnt mind.

I have one 55 on my 360 and a canister filter. I have two 55's on my 450 and that was a PITA. I recommend one large sump vs. two smaller ones. If you go with two sumps make sure you connect the sumps. I have a 1" line between my sumps and it works great keeping the levels the same.

why is it a PITA, maintenance wise or getting the levels right?

Well each sump needs it's own pump. If (when) one pump fails, at least on mine, I have to turn off the other pump or that side will run dry and the other side will overflow. My 1" connection line between the two sumps is just not big enough to support just one pump running. This puts you in a bad situation because you have twice the chance for pump issues. Either pump fails and the system is down.

I have two pumps running on my single sump system (The 360) and if (when) one pump fails I just lose half the flow. No big deal. Redundancy.

Hind site I should of went with 1.5" or 2" connection line between the sumps.

Edit: The two sump system runs great and it fits under my stand perfectly. I just have additional stuff to worry about.

Yeah I would definitely go 1 sump on a tank that large.

I run 2 on my 135 and can get away with 1 pump.

Go with a single 90g for sure.

Freshwater setup I take it?

I have an idea. I don't know if it's a good one though. How about having 2 hoses connecting the sumps. Use 2 external pumps connected to the lines that connect the 2 sumps. That way both pumps are drawing water out of both sumps. If one pump quits you still have the other draining water out of both sumps until you get it fixed.

alright ill go with a 90 gallon sump, do you think i should stick with just 1x mag 18 or get another as well? I'll have 2x 2.5" drains with 1.5" bulkheads on the 360, I'm going to put ball valves behind them so i can control the flow.

I like the idea of 2 55's and having them connected. Hulon uses 2 75's on his 675 as well as some other stuff and look at his fish.

WHy not go for a used 100g+ from craigslist?

I'd recommend 2 pumps. I run 2 quiet one 4000s on my 180 gallon. Maybe it was just the one I have, but I used a mag drive 18 for 2 weeks, but it was too noisy.
