so i have a 240g tank and i'm running a 30g sump underneath with a flow rate of about 900 gph. When I convert this thing to salt I will need to increase the flow... my output and input can take it, but will the sump handle it if we loose power or will it overflow? When I loose power now it only adds an additional 7 gallons to the sump. When I increase the flow will it increases the amount if water in the sump when the power cuts off?

I was going to do that I was just wondering before I even got to that point because it'll be awhile before I get the new pump.

i may be wrong, but increasing flow rate should not change the volume.

in other words, as long as the overflows remain the same height, you won't change the amount of potential water volume that can drain to the sump. the same amount should drain, just at a faster rate(if you upgraded your overflows too).

yup. the reason I suggest checking it yourself once is because you seem really concerned about it and doing a test run will ensure that you will worry later. I've been through something like that and it definitely helps to know for sure. good luck.
