I'm switching over from a canister filter to a sump/refug in my 75g. After checking the measurements of the stand, I can only fit a 20g long into it. I was wondering if that would be good enough for my tank? Thank you everyone in advance!:headbang2

20longs are tough to make sumps out of... Their shallow shape presents some extra challenges in media placement & the water level is usually a bit shallow for my taste. It can certainly be done, but post up some of your design ideas before you start buying & glueing. Its much cheaper to do it right the first time.

This is what I was thinking of from melevsreef.com

My stand has 2 draws with 2 doors below with out the center brace so its got a good opening but low on height only 15". The 20g is 12" high which gives me a little room to get my hand in there and I will have to remove the back part of a draw and leave the face of the draw with a hinge on the stand to get to my skimmer cup.

Thanks for the reply guys!

Thats probably a great design, but there's no mechanical media in there (obviously because its SW) & it looks a bit taller than your stand can accept...

I made a sump for my 75 out of a 20 long. Works pretty good, evaporation only makes me fill every 4 days or so.
