Hi, im a total noob here and was just wondering if there is a ratio of size to the tank and the sump for it to have good filtration...lets say if the tank was 1000 gallons whats the minimum size the sump required to filter it well? thx

Not sure on size, but the bigger the better. For a 1000g tank, I would say at least 100g sump.

I'm sure there are others that have more definitive answers.

Depends on bio-load, and I guess your water turnover ratio, just like any other filter. Bigger and more the better.

i see, so i guess bio load and turnover ratios are a bigger factor for filtration? not saying that the size of the sump doesnt matter
