hey all,

just finished everything on the 270gal, and the 60gal sump is up and running fine......but making some sounds......

inside the sump, there is a semi-frequent deep gutteral sound as the water flows into the sump --- i have the plumbing so that it is submerged and shooting directly into filter pads/media/etc....

if i were to make the intake to the sump non-submerged, would i simply be left with the water flowing sound?

it is as if the waterflow is changing and coming in very strong at short bursts - but inside the overflow chamber, the durso standpipe is keeping that water level and no gurgling there....so i am stumped....

also - is it possible that an earthquake could knock over a 300gal system?

thanks....

ill try to get some pics up soon....

as for the air -- i had to punch an extra hole on the end cap of the durso standpipe so that it wasn't pulling in extra air -- so the actual overflow chamber is silent

but where the water enters the sump (again, submerged) - it is quite noisy....

pics to come

The water leel inside the overflow chamber HAVE to change if it makes that noise, you may not be able to see it, but it has to go up and down to be doing that.

What I did on mine was to silicone an airline regulator on top of the durso cap hole and I regulate the air intake that way.
